Turn aside like Moses.

This is the season of Light, and also, I'm afraid, the season of hurry. One dear friend just exhorted me to slow. down. Buy the field, the whole field.

THE BRIGHT FIELD

I have seen the sun break through
to illuminate a small field
for a while, and gone my way
and forgotten it. But that was the pearl
of great price, the one field that had
the treasure in it. I realize now
that I must give all that I have
to possess it. Life is not hurrying

on to a receding future, nor hankering after
an imagined past. It is the turning
aside like Moses to the miracle
of the burning bush, to a brightness
that seemed as transitory as your youth
once, but is the eternity that awaits you.

~ R. S. Thomas (1913-2000), Welsh poet

Always, we're standing on holy ground because His birth, death and resurrection has made it holy.

Ooooooooooo....I feel warmth and grace here.

Your book lists in your sidebar are intriguing... some I've read, others I'd like to.

Slow. Down. Thank you for reminding me.

My first time visit... I'll come again.

Wishing you glimpses of heaven in unexpected places.

The poem itself causes one to turn aside and ponder . . . so much depth is being revealed there.
