It was interesting stuff. I need to go check out some of his books! The travel one sounds good; thanks for the tip.

xofrancesLeft-Handed Housewifehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15014518128739580267noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7512869338404805014.post-43365370984155070552012-09-29T21:05:35.666-07:002012-09-29T21:05:35.666-07:00I loved this book! Just read it this month myself and it was his unique perspectives and ways of tying things together...unique in that I've never read anyone else who describes things quite like he did...and I enjoyed so much...yes, perhaps they are obvious things, but for me they were observations I had not ever found the words to explain even to myself. I love looking at the familiar, but finding new facets, or particularly new connections -- esp. on a spiritual level. As I discover large spiritual truths, they seem to re-inform almost everything, so I get the joy of re-assessing my world and going, "Oh! The book is about food/eating/cooking, but then again it is far more than that. I think you'd enjoy it. Put it there with your other books to read :)M.K.https://www.blogger.com/profile/09205619221345704689noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7512869338404805014.post-35644963993865347832012-09-29T15:12:15.506-07:002012-09-29T15:12:15.506-07:00I often admire your persistence with unusual texts...I often admire your persistence with unusual texts.

Some folks don't have as much patience with authors or with people..

for me, this is the crux of what you wrote...where I really here you:
"His conclusions and even many of his presuppositions are different from mine, however, which makes the reading of his books into a stimulating discussion with myself as I also haltingly debate with him.

He provokes me to clarify my thoughts on matters I am already familiar with ..."

Jeannettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06115410908800997558noreply@blogger.com
